EDUCATION

Illiteracy in Kenya especially within pastoralist communities is very high since many children are not able to access education due to several factors which include; poverty, long distances between homes and schools, harmful cultural practices that discriminate children on gender basis like female genital mutilation among others. To reduce the gap between the literate and illiterate, N.C.I.I has been involved in a number of activities that aim at keeping the children in school. Some of these initiatives include; providing support to schools through construction of classrooms and provision of reading and writing materials for children, construction of administrative blocks, provision of nutritional porridge to Early Childhood Development Centres, sponsoring a few teachers for professional studies etcetera.
